Meditation classes in Southampton

These classes are practical, helpful and good fun, they are designed to still the turbulent mind by using the power of concentration, awareness and breathing exercises. Sebastian has been teaching for many years and draws on the years of his experience with advanced Yoga and Meditation teachers.

"There are many techniques to stilling the mind, one is the use of breath, another is the use of sound vibrations, detaching from thoughts is also helpful, awareness of thought patterns, Yogic Mudras can be performed and also some Yoga postures can assist in developing a meditative state of mind". Sebastian talks about meditation.

iceberg2.jpgVisualization is also an important tool in creating a happy and successful future. The untapped power of the subconscious mind can bring about both spiritual and material wealth. As human beings we use very little of our mental potential, we often use the agitated surface layer of mind and never dive deeper into the intuitive subconscious mind for guidance and help. The image of the iceberg represents the usual state of affairs for most of us, the cap represents the amount of mental power we usually access and the large area submerged under the water depicts the untapped subconscious.

Sebastian runs meditation classes that show you how to access the power of the 'inner teacher' or subconscious mind that is lying dormant within all of us. The subconscious mind guides you through intuition and gut feelings and when you learn to trust this inner guidance you can make assertive decisions in life knowing they are right for you. You can visualize a happier, more successful future and using the power of meditation, make your visualizations a reality!

Meditation is good for addictions, depression, nervous tension and lowering blood pressure. Sebastian also uses yogic mudras in the meditation classes to balance the elements within the body, this helps to generate a healthy body and mind ready for meditation.

Class discription

When the mind has become calm and focused from the preparatory breathing techniques, we then use a hand gesture called a mudra to either stimulate energy, heal parts of the body or aid our spiritual growth. Some time is spent chanting which helps to calm the nervous system and then we finish by watching any thoughts that our mind creates. Gradually we become a witness to the activity of the mind rather than a slave to it. Any of the practices taught during the class can be done at home, at work or in a peaceful natural setting.

When we can take a step back from our mind in times of negativity and stress, we become able to overcome unhelpful mental patterns. Sometimes the only way to see problems clearly is to watch the situation from a distance. This meditation class will give you practical tools to watch the negative thoughts that cause you unhappiness with out having to act on them.
